Still trying to diagnose algae problems that I've had forever. I'm wondering if my tank current is too low which is allowing organic particles to settle on plants and then lead to algae.

Is this theory correct?
Does increasing the flow rate reduce the problem (i.e. blow off particles on plants into the water column to be captured by the filter intake?
Should I add a power head to such a small aquarium (10 gallon std)?

I am upgrading from a HOB filter to a small canister filter to hopefully allow me to get better filtration and remove the detritus and organic particles. From what I have read, the output of the filter isn't that high (79GPH spray bar) so I don't think I'll be upgrading my flow rate by changing filters.
