On the German t5 waterproof endcaps, how do you wire them? Do you stick the wire up into them or???

If they are like mine then yes, you just stick the wire into the receptacle and it should hold.

While this maybe true for a solid core wire this might not be so easy when using stranded wire which tends to flex when attempting to inset into the receptacle clamps due to its stiffness.

The pics shown below should give you a better idea of how to insert the wire if having such difficulties. The way shown is my preferred method as it guarantees excellent contact when wiring.

Prying the actual holder from the endcap base requires you to place a flathead screwdriver in the little groove, push downward 'not in' and out towards you.

Lift gently, carefully and be mindful of the spring that is shown in pic. If it does come out its holder just push spring back in place after the wire insertion is done.

See the wires coming from the smaller outer holes in the pic below?

Upon inserting, if there is a mistake or poor insertion, you can take apart the back of the socket by prying from where shown, separate the clamps to take wire/s out and re-insert.

I hope this helped.

Thank you mrkookm!

That's what I needed, Pictures!:)

Now for another question, where do you put the ballast? Does it matter if it is next to the bulbs under the canopy, or do you want it out of the canopy?

(I swear this week I'll get the nerve to finish this lighting progect)
I like mine mounted on the back of the canopy, it gets hot enough inside the canopy and I do not want a ballast adding more heat. Some ballasts have thermal switches and will shut off if they get too hot. I do have some ballasts inside enclosures for 36 watt PCs, they do get warm but no ballast shutdown and those tanks do not get hot......DC
