How do you tell apart Bee shrimps from BumbleBee shrimps...

So I'm doing alittle research before buying some bee shrimps and found out that they look "almost exactly" like bumblebee shrimps. However I was surprised to learn that they are actually completely different species. So how do you tell them apart? Is the bumblebee bigger? (like in real bee term)

Maybe its just me but I dont see any difference. Still I'll go ahead and pick up some bee shrimp this coming week or two, at least I can tell the grades apart. :)
I would recomend the species profiles at shrimpnow.com for much nicer info in my opinion.

I personally didn't understand this topic for a while until I finally made a thread!

The Bumble Bee or New Bee is a different species than the CRS's black brother the Black Daimond or 'Bee' shrimp

A new bee, or Bumblebee has the black band closest to the head and sometimes a full black head (unless they're selectively bred like some of them have been)

A Bee or Black diamond is just the black version of the CRS see my journal thread for pictures of them:thumbsup:

Thanks alot, that was very helpful. :) I'm a discus keeper so breeding CRS and bee shrimps should be a breeze. Now I just have to save up for those suckers at $10 a pop (grade A material).

p.s. do you have star moss? cute little moss I realized can be grown under water. cheers and happy holidays.
