Hi all,

I'm not looking to torture any fish/invert here, so asking to see if there are any small fish (or invert) that can withstand waters going into the 40s and still be comfortable?

I have a nano tank that I keep by my window sill. It currently holds only plants and pond snail, but no livestock. Looking to add either fish or inverts to liven up the place.

Any suggestions welcome.

My cousin has a pond that has gold fish and koi that survived in the freezing weather Washington just had. The pond isn't even two feet deep either and he has no heaters in it.

Your bets bet is probably to go find something local around you, as if it's in the water now and living, it can handle those temps. lol. The problem is getting a cold cold water species, what happens in August when NY reaches 100 outside? Many people who keep cold water species have to resort to chillers in the summer.
