Hob filter question

842 5
Hi everyone! I have had my aquarium for about a year now and every time I change the filter pads on my hob when I restart it, it spits out a bunch of debris into the aquarium. I've tried putting nets and filter foam under the output to try to catch some of it but that still doesn't help much. I have a penguin 305b with filter foam, bio beads and the bio wheels on a 29h.

Does anyone have a solution other than cleaning the entire filter every week?

Thanks!

This might be a hassle, but when you change the cartridge or wash the sponge, you could dump all the water in the filter out in to a bucket or something while doing your water change. That way, any debris that have been dislodged/is floating in the filter will be gone.
Hope this helps.

Thanks! yeah that would work, I was hoping to not have to take the filter off every time. Really kicking myself I just didn't jump for the canister when I got this setup.

Any other suggestions?
