High tech to low tech

Complete do over on my 40g tall tank from high light with co2 to low tech shaded light no co2

Can't keep up on how fast it gets overgrown and it being a 40 tall, it's a pain reaching in to do maintenance. So this time i'll keep it clean and simple.

Wow, both look amazing, what is the floating plant in the second photo? I've been interested in getting some of that.

water lettuce. got a bag full from a local aquarium club auction here in saskatoon

Very nice. I've considered this, though I don't really have a high tech tank (40b). I use DIY CO2 and for the longest time it was a real frustration getting the recipe dialed in but I am getting great output from 3 two liters now.

Did you completely yank all your plants or use some of the same ones? I've wondered what the reaction would be to my plants if I just stopped CO2 cold turkey, would BBA ensue until params re-adjusted, etc...
