Welp, after 6 years of fish keeping I have jumped in fully into planting them now.

I am a huge DIY guy. From my lights, to fish tank covers, to over flows. The only real thing that I have not actually built myself are the tanks themselves, of course, I have resealed my fair share though.

Anyways, I am full of questions and am looking forward to receiving help on many matters. If there are a few things that I CAN do right is fish always seem to do rather well along with my ability to grow algae.

Hello, baker2016! If you like DIY, planted aquarium setups should be right up your alley. I, too, have dabbled here and there over the years with making stands/covers and the like. You might find yourself adding a lot more DIY to the list if you don't go store bought with lighting, CO2, etc.

If I had kept pictures of the glorious algae from my first high-light setup, I'm sure you wouldn't feel so bad. It's fun to learn and learning how to avoid (and kill!) algae is just a part of that.
