Figured I'd do a formal introduction. I am a long time lurker here, and have learned tons on this forum (thank you all!)

I have a 40B with two pretty big orandas (that have outgrown their tank at this point!). I have always kept them in a planted tank, but recently decided to try some carpeting plants (DHG and glosso). I started a tank journal tonight over in that section, but here is a pic:

I also have a 6.7 gallon betta tank:

Anyway, just wanted to say hi!

Hello and Welcome :D

What type of betta are you keeping?
Great question... I haven't quite figured it out myself :hihi:

He/she was a baby betta rescue from petco (I hate that they sell those babies that most people don't have a clue how to care for).

I actually am starting to believe it might be a female as he/she has an egg spot, but I have read that males can sometimes have these when they are young as well. The fins are pretty short though, so either it is a plakat or some sort of female. He/she really hasn't gotten much coloring yet either, I see tinges of blue in the right light, but that's it.

This isn't the best or most recent photo, but here's a close up of the little one:

And here's when I first got him/her:

It might possibly be a female, bu,t depending on age and size it is still quite hard to tell. I have a 7 month old beta that is still 1/2 inch long, I sold my other babies and kept this one because it was the runt. Still uknown if its m/f
