I just noticed all my amanos and a bunch of cherries are at the top corner of the tank trying to escape. I've read that this means something is off with the water quality. What do I test for?

ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. do a large water change as soon as you test
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0

Did a 5g water change and all seems to be well now. Shrimp have resumed eating. I think CO2 was too high. Drop checker was on the yellow side.
They were probably starving for o2.
I recently had a power outage in the middle of the night which caused my filter to freeze. 3 of my cherry red shrimp jump out of the tank and one SAE.

You should invest in a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) that is typically used to keep power to a computer when the power goes out. I have black outs all the time and would have certainly lost shrimp/fish from several tanks if I didn't have them setup. I paid about $30 each and they usually keep power to the filter, air, and heater for a couple of hours before the battery goes out. I have a very large UPS for my 180 tank and I tested it once and it has kept the heater, and air on for over 8 hours!!. I don't care to run the filter, but 8 hours with no air or heat would have killed all the fish in the tank without a doubt and I would have lost a LOT of money so it was well worth the investment of $100.

Just get a used one ebay and buy a new battery for it. Almost all of the smaller units work great, but once the battery dies people don't' realize it just needs a new battery so sell it for next to nothing on ebay. I found a few for as low as $1.00. Companies always make this mistake and because they are SOOOO heavy they can't be shipped and companies either give them away or donate them to get the tax right off. I actually have about 20 of them I got for free. ALL work, but each one needs a new battery. I new unit would cost $160.00 a new batter is $15.00. If you where in Cali I would be glad to set you up with one.
