:icon_frow i have a question, i really want to set up a planted aquarium, but i'm not sure what kind of flooring and such to put in it. I have a 10 gallon guppy tank, with 3 plants, i don't know their names. But i kind of want to start planting in it also, like with java ferns and grass and such. I was wondering if i could buy the soils i need such as potting soil from orchard supply hardware and the plants i need there. If anyone can help me out i really appreciate it, thanks.

There are people who have used potting soil in their tanks, but it's not recommended. The Substrate section here is a good place to start doing some research on what people use as their substrate. http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/substrate/

It boils down to what you want to grow, how much money you have to spend, and what other equipment you have/or willing to buy in order to grow plants.
