Does anyone recognize the yellow/green plants in the background?

Yup, those aren't aquatic. They'd work well in a terrarium or vivarium.

Commonly called gold ribbion or white ribbon. will live for only a short time underwater then will rot away.
I'm guessing you got um at petco/smart in the tubes. 8 of the 10 varities they have are non aquatic altho they are sold as aquatic plants.

Sure, that should work fine. Basically, they're lucky bamboo with stripes. They sell them for aquatic use (and lucky bamboo) because they're practically indestructible.

But they will rot in your tank and ruin your water quality, so take them out and pot them in a sunny window
