SO... i got a free setup today. was a saltwater tank but i'm cleaning it up to be a freshwater. it's a 30 gallon glass hex tank. came with a wooden stand. I'm gonna paint/dye the stand black cause it's a little worse for wear. it also came with filter (HOB biowheel), heater, glass top, strip light, and a ton of other crap... mostly for a SW tank.

my question. is it possible to grow ANYTHING in there since it's a full 2' deep and only 20" wide? what should i put in it? any rec's?

of course you can grow anything as long as you have good lighting ,fert regime ,co2 injection .good water circulation.
I would loose the biowheel and go for a canister filter.
Welcome to the slippery slope of fishkeeping and planted tank!
