I received this from a friend, and love it to death, but have no idea what it is called. I thought maybe someone here could help me ID it.

I believe it is Eichornia azurea as well......from what I've heard if it's allowed to reach the surface it will develop into the floating form, which supposedly is very difficult to revert back to the stem form....

I hear you Turbo, but the stem color and spacing makes me think Hyacinth.

question....are the leaves coming out of the stem from the entire stem or just the top?

I've got both in the same tank, it is the hygro. Look at the vein running down the middle of the leaf.

Look at the way the leaves taper as they reach the stem, it isn't azurea.

The vein is a dead giveaway...yep you are right. They look a lot alike, but the vein is only in the hygro~

I agree, it's the hygro.. Notice how the leaves sprout around the stem?
the eazuera, the leaves just shoot out only 2 sides of a very sturdy stem.
