hello i am thinking of making a Acrylic tank and have a few questions
tank will be 14''x14''x18'' tall

1 what thickness do i need?

2 will just the sheets at home depo work? or do i need some sorta special Acrylic for viewing purposes?

There is a spreadsheet at the top of the page I see a lot of people referencing when they build their own. I've not used it personally.

No. Home Depo acrylic will not do the trick. Local home improvement stores carry extruded acrylic. For a small tank such as a 2-5g maybe but I still wouldn't trust it. The psi holding capacity just isn't there. What you want is cel cast for aquariums. The taller the tank, the thicker the acrylic needs to be. Not the wider or the longer. Pressure comes from the height of the water column.
