Hey I bought some ramshorn and mts snails from someone and they all have what I think is calcium issues they have tiny white spots on them...
Someone said cuttlebone so I bought one but how do you get the calcium from it to the snails, shave it into powder?...
Someone else said egg shells well same question what do you do with the egg shells?
I'm assuming just having either in the water doesn't do squat am I wrong???

I just put the cuttlebone into the water, it floats for awhile and then sinks. I have also used eggshell, I have tried breaking it into small pieces and I have also used a mortar to grind them up into powder. Some break the shells up and put them in a net and hang them in the tank, I just mixed them with the substrate. Also depending on how big your tank is you might want to get more than one cuttlebone, since the calcium disolves into the water I don't think one bone is gonna do much good in a e.g 20G tank.
You can just drop it in your tank or in your filter. I'm sure in the filter with the water flow it would work a bit better.
May works some, but if your ph is low it will eat away at the ramshorn shells.
