I was adding purigen to my fluval spec filter and the mesh bag opened and the purigen spilled all over my tank three of my rcs died within minutes I did 2 20% water changes immediately. Is there anything else I can do?

That doesn't sound right... purigen is inert and should not kill RCS, could it be something else?
Ya, i think most of us have done that at some point. I've seen the shrimp try and eat it with no ill effects.
I did not rinse the purigen before I added it (like an idiot I did not read the instructions)

I think the purpose of rinsing isn't to remove toxins, but to clean the mesh bag of dirt, dust, etc. just like how you rinse off the carbon dust in a carbon filter pad.

What is your pH, GH, KH, TDS, ammonia, nitrites, & nitrates?
I am new to this but I tested the ph it is 7.6 that is what it has been all week - the TDS went way up to 308 I dont have the kit to test ammonia & nitrates (ordered from Amazon it will be here tommorrow)

Also, how many RCS are in your tank? If you have like 100 and 3 died, no biggie.
Should I do another water change?

Your TDS isn't that bad. Maybe it was an acclimation issue? Or maybe an uncycled tank?
I only had 18 - this is a bad hobby for me because I feel horrible that I may have done something to kill them

It was uncycled when I first added the shrimp but that was 4 weeks ago I even had little shrimplets this week

I think uncycled tank. When I first got RCS I had them in a tupperware while I was still setting up my tank, most of them survived, a couple died a few weeks in. They're hardy but will still succumb to ammonia and nitrites in the water. I think the purigen + death was just a coincidence. I wouldn't even use purigen at this point, it would just slow down the cycle.

Is the tank planted at all? Here's a little guide on shrimpkeeping.
yes I have a java fern, guppy grass and 2 of those java moss balls

That's nothing. The TDS in my RCS tank was 614 just before I did a water change yesterday. I was happy to see it go down to the 300 range. My RCS colony is over 4 years old now.

Have you physically removed all the purigen that got dumped into the tank? What does the water look like? Is it cloudy or clear?
water is clear now

Everything seems to have settled down now hopefully they will be alive in the am
Let us know what ammonia/trites/trates levels are at after you get the kit!

Okay, then wait until you get the test kit tomorrow and see what the water parameters show you. Meantime, don't worry too much about what happened. It's not as bad as the time I accidentally poured bleach into my RCS tank instead of Prime. (BTW, the shrimp survived that incident.)
Yeah purigen spillage isnt the cause for death. Some sellers on this thread even toss new purigen in with shrimps while shipping to suck up toxins.

It's the uncycled tank remnants that did them in for sure.
