Just got a 14 gallon bio cube. This will be my first planted tank so i wanted everyones input. I have nothing but the tank. I would like to put fish in as well. I would love to have some ground cover plants but I want to use the lights that come with the tank. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What type of lights do you have and what is the wattage? That can be the key factor in determining the types of plants you can grow successfully.

The actinic does nothing for the plants; I would recommend replacing that bulb with one that is more useful. I don't know about the other; never used those.

The 10,000K bulb should be fine but I also recommend replacing the actinic with a different bulb that would help plants grow. Maybe something around 6700K would be better? If you do that then you should have plenty of light to grow almost any plants you want. You would almost certainly have to inject CO2 somehow if you want to avoid an invasion of algae.
