This plant showed up in the center of my tank one day and has be growing ever since. It doesn't seem to be rooted well in the substrate, but is kind of holding on to a few pieces of substrate about a quarter inch above the rest.

Any idea what type of plant it is? I've searched, but can't find anything that I'm sure about.

its a nymphaea of some sort...might be a baby banana plant that lost its bananas or tawain lotus...

Not an expert but I agree with this until you have a more recent/better picture.
