According to my local area water report

it says the water has

Total Alkalinity (ppm as CaCO3) 184
Total Hardness (ppm as CaCO3) 316

Is this a measurement of GH and KH? Also I noticed people talk about single digit GH/KH values. Is there a conversion I need to do?

The total hardness is basically GH. For practical purposes, total alkalinity ~= KH. There is no need to do a conversion to ºdGH/ºdKH, but if you want to you can divide by 17.8. This is like changing "kph" to "mph" on your speedo. Different numbers but chemistry remains the same.

so 316/71.8 gives me 17GH! thats pretty hard!

I guess i will have to mix in some RO water with the tap =/
