Help Leaves Desinigrating

707 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  deftones2015
I have a few different types of swords and on one of them the leaves are turning to mush. The frill sword I think it's called is getting brown spots on the leaves plus seems to be showing the veins of the leaf.

I have a 65 watt coralife light
planted in eco complete

It's been up and running for approx 4 or 5 days now.

Since it's only been up and running for such a short amount of time, I bet it's due to the sword being replanted. Give it a couple weeks and I bet it will come around. Just trim off any leaves that melt and I'm sure they'll be quickly replaced.

If it continues past several weeks, then you may have an issue. You'll also need to provide more info, such as the size of the aquarium, CO2 levels if being used, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels, hardness, alkalinity and what fertilizers are being dosed along with their frequency.
The ammonia levels are between 0 and .25 according to the liquid test.

The other tests are strips so not as accurate but for Alkalinity its between 100 and 180

Nitrite is around 1
Nitrate around 20

I'm not currently dosing with ferts nor using Co2 I plan on getting a co2 set up this weekend or next weekend and I have no clue about the fertilizers yet.

I've looked at a lot of threads on ferts but still a little confusing.

Should I get a better light? The lighting doesnt seem very bright to me.

I have to cheap tetras in the tank right now to help cycle.

That's all I can think of right now.
