Hey everyone i just got 2 new German Blue rams yesterday and i thought they were a male and female but now im thinking they're 2 females. one keeps chasing the other and i dont know if thats normal or what. im new to rams, and cichlids at that. please help me identify them and what should i do. should i exchange one for a male or can i just get another one thats a male?

the one showing more blue is a girl. might just be gettin used to the tank what size tank are they in (top pic male bottom female) the females dont show as much color

thanks for the help guys, i just got them a day ago so they're probobly just getting used to the tank.

Here is a pic of one of my pairs to help you. Males will tend to be larger. The females will also have the rosy pink belly like you see on my female

And your right. It will take a few days for them to color up. I will say that they may not pair. If they don't just add another female and see what happens. Also a 10% water change that is 2degrees colder than tank is a good way to get them to spawn. That is if you want to breed.

Yeah i think they were just getting used to the tank they stopped chasing echother around. by the way nice rams man, what do u feed them? im using freeze dried bloodworms and brine shrimp right now, and color enhancing flakes.

I'm feeding the same except for the flake. I try to stay away from flake to much ash and other worthless fillers. I use a small cichlid pellet and I once a week I give them thawed shelled crushed peas.
