Help! I came home today and my juvie CPO was crawling around the shrimp tank as usual, but then he turned on his side and has been lying on the substrate for about 10 minutes not really moving... He moves his whiskers a bit and flails a bit when the shrimp are crawling close to him but otherwise just lies there with his tail curled under... What's going on? Is he trying and failing to molt? If so what can I do? Any advice would be appreciated!!

That's not a good sign, he's probably dead and the twitching is death twitch.

yeah I don't think there is a come back from laying on his side.

Ya, I've never seen a shrimp get back up after doing that and be fine. usually they die shortly after I find them like that.

Yea... Unfortunately he died this morning. I don't know what came over him. He did get all his legs and claws bitten off by two bigger CPOs once and after I quarantined him he'd been recovering nicely. Oh well.
