I’m setting up my first planted tank and need to figure out how to set up my Inkbird ITC-306T temp controller. I get that I’m supposed to plug in the controller, use the Set/other buttons to set desired temps, drop the probe in the tank, and then plug the heater into the Inkbird’s socket for that purpose. But I’m confused — do I need to set the heater itself to a particular temp? Or all the way “high” or “low”? Does the Inkbird control the heater, regardless of what temp the heater itself is set to? Seems like this would matter but I can’t find any info about it. Thanks!

You don't want to set the heater to it's highest point , instead just set it a degree or 3 higher than the temp you want IE: Wanted temp 76 , heater set to 78-80 . Then set the Inkbird to the temp you want . Hope that helps . I use DIY Inkbirds on all my tanks and would not be without them .
