I have 2WPG (Ah supply) on my 55G tank with no CO2 and the slow growth/no water change/no c02 method. I tried HC, it died very fast. I do have Marsilea quadrifolia in my tank for about a year and half, although I don't think it's grown at all!

I'm still looking for a good carpet option for a low light/no c02 tank.

With your tank you might have better luck with Marsilea quadrifolia.

How large is your tank? What kind of bulbs are you using? The amount of actual light from 2 WPG can vary; i.e. depending on whether you are using T12 bulbs, T5HO bulbs, etc.

In addition, the WPG guideline doesn't really work for very small and very large tanks.

Finally, are you adding fertilizers?

DIY CO2 isn't worth it on a tank this size you will need a 5g bucket setup worht of Sugar and yeast.

You will need ferts on a tank that size you should conisder dry ferts and dosing EI style.

If it is the stock light you are probably at 1 or less WPG of T-8 or T-12

I agree with Craigthor; for a tank your size, DIY CO2 is really not an option. You will want to go pressurized CO2, or skip out on the CO2 completely and go for a low light, low tech tank.

You are not seeing pearling because you have insufficient CO2.

The way you are diffusing CO2 right now is fine, but again, due to the low amount of CO2, it is insufficient to meet the needs of the plants.

As Craigthor also mentioned, for fertilizers, I would recommend you use dry fertilizers as well as the EI style of dosing. At the very least, you will need potassium nitrate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate as well as a decent trace mix. Depending on your water chemistry, you may need magnesium sulfate, potassium sulfate and/or calcium sulfate.

Since you said you have 2 WPG over your 75g, I am assuming it is not a stock light, and at the bulbs are probably T8 or better. With this kind of light, you will need fertilization.
