I did it and haven't had issues since.
Have you tried the wait method with GDA?
I wanted to get feedback on who has actually had success with waiting for the GDA to die out and then removing it.

in an old tank with very little attention, it grew so thick, i could not see through the glass, and let it stay for a month... then had to get the razor blade out... again, and again, and again....
But like i said, that tank was low light, no ferts - your basic non-plantedtank tank.
