Azoo Plant grower bed?


I'm planning a new tank. 120g with PFS for substrate. Planted of course.

I'm trying to find out if:

1) Is a fert layer (sand fert sand) needed or can I just plant, drop a root tab and be done? (I'm not concerned about the layers mixing)

2) If anyone here has used this Azoo stuff? I'm not concerned about the claims for longer times between water changes (I do my tanks every other week) or the claims of clarifying the water (2 fluval 405s) or the Ph claims (will have DW)

3) Any other fert layer suggestions?

Orlando from Greenleaf Aquarium sells this. I haven't used it, but he just recently started setting up a tank with it. I would shoot him a pm if he doesn't jump in here shortly.
