Quick question:
Is a Harris regulator GP702 125 590 going to be a decent choice for my first co2 regulator build and setup?

I'm not wanting to spend a ton of cash on the build I would say 150 tops not including co2 tank. Any thoughts or wisdom is greatly appreciated.

That's a single stage regulator. It'll work fine until it gets to the end of the co2 tank.

It's that kind of comment that fools folks into believing that they're going to have an end of tank dump if they don't have a 2 stage regulator. A good quality industrial regulator will not preform in the same manner as a cheap Chinese hobby unit. They even test them to see how much rise and decay is going to happen and publish their findings so we know ahead of time. Most often, is only about 1-2 psi. That's not enough to gas your fish.

I had an EOTD once with an american-brand single stage reg that previously never did it, and subsequently never did it again. I wonder how much the quality of the peripheral parts matter, and the working pressure that it's set at?

Some are made better than others. Was your regulator that you speak of intended for beer or soda?
