Half Moon Beta eating my dwarf Rasbora's!

Ive been noticing that the school of ten dwarf Rasbora's has been dwindling in my twelve gallon long tank. I looked in my canister but no bodies, nor were there any in my intake, under rocks, on the floor... etc. Tonight I watched in stunned amazement as my Half Moon Beta lunged from behind a rock and ate a straggling Rasbora, solving the mystery. Has anyone ever seen this behavior in a Beta?

Bettas will eat anything that will fit in their mouths. They are not peaceful fish; quite the opposite, actually, as they are predators that were bred for fighting. Peaceful bettas that can be kept with other fish, especially in small tanks, are the exception, not the rule.
