i think its algae but im not sure i boiled it for 2 days 5 times to get the colors out then i seted up my new 10 gal . placed the wood in and today i see little white hair on the wood could this be algae or do i need to take a picture?

i have 4 amano shrimps and 1 cherry would they take care of it?

could it be no c02?

amanos should help....
no CO2 and too many traces maybe?
Make sure it is an alage and not fungus....got a pic?

not algae; your wood is growing mold and decomposing, and no animal will eat it faster than it will grow back. you can't use that wood immersed, but you can use it dry for reptile tanks and such. if you leave that wood in over two weeks it will fowl the water and start killing your fish.

I didn't see which type of wood he used....where does it say? If it is grapevine, take it out....some reptile perches are manzanita which is fine to use.....why type is it?

its malaysian drift wood i had it in my 5 gal with java moss over it for about 2 months already.... and i boiled it before i put the wood in the tank
