Hagen ladder bubbles not shrinking?

Well I am sitting here super frustrated because I have been without co2 for a week and staghorn is killing. I recentley just set up a Hagen ladder about 9 hours ago. The bubbles were big and moving fast and were not shrinking. My first thought was that there was alot of oxygen in the bottle and tube upon the initial set up and those bubbles were heavy in oxygen so they were not shrinking(diffusing). Then two hours went by and they still were not shrinking so I was pissed and added a limewood diffuser under the ladder so there would be many smaller bubbles that would move slower. It was a GREAT idea. Now there are 12 small bubbles at a time on the ladder and they are not shrinking or being diffused. I have a TON of water flow in my 5g I get a 40x turn over rate. My ph isnt dropping and I am pissed off. If my tank is not 6.6ph when I wake up im going to snap.

Whe I bought mine the instructions said it could take 48 hours to work properly...

We shall see my northern friend, we shall see.
I also use a Hagen ladder on a two 2L bottle set-up. Don't know the reason but every time I change a bottle or pull the ladder out for a scrubdown, it takes about a day for the bubbles to settle down.

looks like this to be the case for the most part. It just took a day for the bubble to be in tip top shape for the ladder. I am ok now. I got my ph to 6.6 right were I need it.
