hagen co2 ladder

hey, i was wondering if i can put the hagen co2 ladder horizontal? or does the ladder have to be vertical for it to work properly? please help. thank you very much

Yeah, it needs to be vertical, so that the bubbles can climb 'up' the ladder and slowly dissipate. If it was horizontal the bubble would just pop out and go straight to the top. If you watch the bubble climb the ladder, you'll notice it gets smaller as the Co2 is let out of it.
