GSAS Annual Plant Auction! November 14th!
Monday November 14: Plant Auction! (At West Seattle!)

The Greater Seattle Aquarium Society (your local aquarium club since 1971) is having its B-I-G annual Aquarium Plant Auction!! The money raised at this auction helps GSAS bring world class speakers to our community for our free lecture series presented at our regular meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. In the past couple of years we have hosted presentations by following internationally known speakers: Ad Konings, Karen Randall, Oliver Lucanus, Lawrence Kent, Chuck Rambo, Tom Barr, Gary Lange, Dick Au, Ted Judy, Christel Kasselmann, Ian Fuller, Mike Wise, Greg Sage, Juan Miguel Artigas Azas, and Klaus Steinhaus just to name a few.

What can you expect? Last year we had about 500 items which were sold in a little less than 3 hours....the pace is fast and furious!! There will be tons of plants; most of them grown by GSAS members and some nice specimen plants purchased from the country's best commercial nursery. Along with the plants there is member-spawned fish, freshwater shrimp, maybe an axolotl or two. What you won't see are any dry goods, tanks or filters (come back in April for the General Auction).

You must be a member to sell; everyone can buy! We accept cash, credit cards, or if you are a GSAS member a personal check.

When? Monday November 14th the doors open at 6:00 PM and the auction starts at 7:00 PM until ??

Our auction will be held at the West Seattle Christian Church Gymnasium, 4400 42nd Avenue Southwest, Seattle, WA. The church is conveniently located at the intersection of SW. Genesee St. and 42nd Ave. SW just 6 blocks from the West Seattle Bridge.

No admission charge, accessible, family friendly (but no furry/feathered pets please), lots of free parking in the rear

We are generously sponsored by many of the local fish stores and numerous aquarium supply manufacturers.

See our web page at Greater Seattle Aquarium Society for more information.

Hi All,

The big plant auction is less than a week away; and I understand that Tom Barr has sent up several species of plants from his tanks including Lagenandra meeboldii Pink, and perhaps Ludwigia "Pantanal"! You do not want to miss this auction if you enjoy live plants in your tanks!!
Hey, I just moved to the area and think this would be pretty awesome. What kind of turnout do you usually expect at something like this? Are the plants displayed before the auction? This sounds really awesome and definitely a good way to get more involved in the local scene.
Hi flinters17,

Welcome to the great NorthWet! lol

Last year we had about 65 bidders and 30 sellers; it was a nice turnout.

Here are items that are already registered for the auction, the number of items increases exponentially up until a couple of hours before the auction begins!
