I am starting a nano shrimp tank. I've got some mosses in there already, but I'd like to fill up with HC as well.the last time i tried to plant HC, i detached the HC from the mesh, then cut them into several clumps and bury into the soil. but it doesn't work.. the hc melts.

Is it ok to just plant the HC together with the mesh that is came with?

What do you mean by mesh? I get HC potted with nutrient foam if that's what you're talking about. For that, you remove all of the foam, then pull apart small clumps of HC similar to how you did. I wouldn't recommend cutting it, it will cause parts partially cut to decay, separate them with your hands instead.
