I need a densely growing very low to the substrate (not higher than 1"), easy to care for groundcover that is preferably fast growing.

Anybody have any suggestions?

I was looking at riccia and baby tears....I have 1.8wpg of T5 (at the moment), fluorite substrate and DIY Co2.

You'd be trimming Riccia and Baby Tears constantly to make it stay low. Even in high light, Baby Tears (assuming you mean HM) is like 3-4".

I would try Glosso or Marsilea. You are somewhat limited with your lighting....but it just might grow (the Glosso).

It may be slightly higher since you have medium-ish lighting....but it would be lower than the 2 you are considering.

Its only the cheapest piece of ADA equipment you can get. I think that a pair of theit tweezers are like 2x's as much as a mini m! :icon_eek:
LOL, I wanted to get the scissors but they were over $100 I think. Crazy nice though. And nice tank.

So I guess glosso it is then. By the way.....

Anybody have any glosso for sale?

I plant mine in a checkerboard pattern about 1/2" - 1" apart.
And how long about does it take for the glosso to fill in all the empty spaces between them?

And am I going to need tweezers for this?

HM puts a lot of growth into its side shoots, which come out every node in good light, but the stems will grow dense because of it, run out of room anywhere but up, and then go up. i used HM as a dense background plant once. its a stem plant, and really has no height restriction.

You pop up on every single aquarium forum I've ever been on!

I remember you gave me some help...maybe 2 or 3 years ago on a different forum when I was settin up my 10g. LOL, you get around!

Still not entirely sure between the glosso and HC though....tricky one. Maybe I could do both?

My favorite carpet plant is definitely HC cuba (hemianthus callitrichoides)

It stays less than 1/2" from the ground, and wouldn't break into pieces and get all over the place like riccia or moss.

After a while, the plant will get thick and bushy. I just did some trimming on the HC yesterday and it actually FEELS like nice soft carpet when I put in hand on it!
