hi i bought grindle worms about 2 months ago
i uses coconut compost for there bedding
i feed baby food the one with barley
question for anyone who could help?
i started seeing little white spots in the bedding about a month ago and these
little bugs crawling around.
my worms are on the decline they have slowly gone from thousand to maybe hundred.
are these little bugs killing my worms? how can i stop my worm population from dying off?

I've raised many different live foods and several worms. The small mites you mentioned are very common and other than consuming some of the food, I don't think they have any effect on the worms.

Oh, and another thing, if you bury the food in the substrate you can cut down on the mites.

Or you can let the mites attack the food and throw out the food that's covered in the mites..

If you worm population is going down, you probably would want to rebed the medium. Throw out as much of the medium as you can and put in new medium. It's ok if you throw out some worms along with the medium...

Or you can start another culture.. Split your culture in half and put in 2 new boxes.
