Hi... I've got a new high tech tank setup... It's been a month.. I can notice few algae growth... Long green hair algae on monte carlo and other plants.. small cactus like algae on glass.. my photoperiod is 6hrs and CO2 is also 6hrs.. I turn on CO2 1hr before light... I using good canister filter with seachem matrix media... Freaking out about the algae.. pls help..

So easy to fix just add a bag of Phosguard to your canister filter.

I have never had an issue since I started adding it to my canister filter. I check the condition of the Phosguard once a month and change out of all the beads or brown.
Learned this years ago in reef keeping.
Phosphate from foods and tap water cause hair algae.
You can change water but if your tap water has high phosphate levels which most do. You use Ro/Di water and then Phosguard to remove the phosphate in the food you feed your fish.

Thanks I'll check with them... but I'm using RO water only and haven't added any fish yet except 10 red shrimps

I have had hair algae in a tank with no fish. An no feeding of a tank.
Just plants and ADA Soil.

Same for me also.. I don't have fish... No feeding..
