Grassroots 20g long

Hello all, this is my second journal. Back a couple of months ago I decided to buy a pressured CO2 regulator and saw that GLA offered a multi block system.

JBJ Filter
Amazonia with power sand S
Powder nutrients over sand.
A bit of controsoil where planted.

I settled with a cheap 20 gallon long, which I do not mind due to the fact that a cover is easy.

I went on an Internet search and found some awesome pieces of driftwood from [Ebay Link Removed] Then I hopped on buceplant.com and order up a ton of buce as well as found alot of nice anubias on [Ebay Link Removed]

In addition I added a bit of Hydrocotyle Tripartita "japan" and Eleocharis sp. "Mini".

So 8 days in I am doing the 2nd water change and I noticed 3 snails. All pretty small but one about the size of a pea. I just purchased for a community tank 2 assassin snails in case of a situation like this. But should I wait until the tank is fully cycled before throwing in the assassin?

I wasn't planning on putting anything in until the full cycle is done. These were the last test results I had yesterday.


I am to the point of debating on what type of fish I would like to have call this a home and that is where maybe a few of you could chime in.

1: species only killifish tank. 1 male 1 female (maybe 2 female)

2: apistogrammas | pygmy Cory | some other nano school. CPD's

3: Species only pigmy sunfish like 8 or more if possible. Elassoma

4: 2 Rams. I did not use sand and most is amazonia and controsoil so I do not know if that would work.

I am open to ideas, I like the idea of possibly having fry live and grow in the tank with the parents if provided enough cover. But I understand that would be easier with a bigger tank. I have a community 20 gallon with alot of nano fish. My favorite are the 2 scarlet badis.

Excited to see this tank grow slowly over time.
