I finally got the back of my tank setup. I'm totally new to this so i figured i'd start from the back and work to the front. I'm not 100% happy with the placement, but i have what i need.

The mid ground is covered more or less for now, mainly because driftwood in the middle and i trimmed down plants next to it.

I want some low growing plants in the front. I may use some sort of moss or HC at some point to carpet but for now, no. I want it to be very low growing, i know that is general and depends on other things, just something i don't have to trim down every week. I have my own ideas but you guys always have better ideas :)

Depends.

What's your tank size, lighting, CO2, ferts, substrate, and water parameters?
Sorry, 29 gallons. Lighting, t5-36 watts, florescent that came with the tank 17 watts. Substrate, Florite red with 30% black gravel mixed in. Ferts, basicaly none, Flourish. Water params, i don't have a test kit.

HC, Glosso (high light for low growth), marsilea minuta or hirsuta if you can find it, are good low-growing carpets.

Glosso wouldn't do that hot in your tank, and HC might be ok with Excel dosing. Marselia is another good choice, which looks similar to Glosso but is much easier in care.

Dwarf Sag and/or E. Tennelus is also another option, plus they grows fast.
