Good, Bad or ugly? *NEW SCAPE

I replaced all of my substrate with Fluval shrimp stratum after seeing the root development that my stems had in my EBI. Meet my new scape :icon_lol::

What do you think? In my other scapes, or attempts, I didn't have a good hardscape so I tried to incorporate that in. I also tried to bring in my love for dutch tanks with the stems.

It would also help to get a better ID on that crypt on the left, and on the two middle plants (they were labeled crypt, bacopa, and ludwigia...they weren't too specific)

Its very pretty and nice looking... looks better then mine.. lol

though i think that the rocks in the front on the left might be alittle too cose... but other than that every thing is perfectoes....
I think it looks good, maybe a few midground plants in the center would help fill the space out and transition though.

The crypt looks like albida to me, but I'm probably wrong XD

I agree with the rock thing. Push the big one (on the left behind the two smaller ones) back a bit more and the two smaller ones closer as well. Opens the front up a bit.

Once it fills in that ugly green eheim tubing will blend in a bit more :p
at least I feel that with my tank but it's not so noticable
It looks fine to me. It'll be even better when it grows out some and fills in.
It looks good but I think it will look better when the plants are filled in. I think some floating plants would look good, so it doesn't look as empty at the top.
yeah im looking for a nice mid ground/ a high carpeting plant. Ill look into getting some floaters too, never thought about that.

There are only 3 rocks total, 2 on the left and one on the right. That background rock on the left looks like its 2 rocks but it's just an illusion. Ill try and move that smaller rock in the front back a little bit when I get a carpeting plant so that I have some more room in the front.
Thanks everyone!
LOL got me. Just a little bit would make it perfect in my opinion.

Get some micro sword. I love the stuff. Just need one plant and you'll end up with tons over time once it's established. Though mine is taking forever but is in pretty low light. I believe lower light causes it to grow longer leaves
Anyone have some suggestions for floaters or should I wait until my plants grow taller?

What carpet plants would look good in this setup? I am torn between glosso, microsword, DHG, UG looks pretty nice, Marsilea is nice (so basically all of the carpeting plants lol)

Im not sure If I want to put a carpeting plant at the bottom and let it fill in underneath the stems or if I should put another midground plant in front of the ludwigia.

Thanks for the help!
You could put some java fern in front of the ludwigia. Doesn't get very tall. Maybe a certain moss
I was thinking of incorporating some blyxa either midground or behind the smallest rock.

I have some windelov java fern I might try putting some of that in too.

+1 on both counts.
Suggestions for plants and placement of the plants?

Just an idea, if it hasn't already been said...

Push the 3 rocks together in mountaineous formation (not piled but larger to the rear) and get yourself a piece of driftwood or branch for the right side!?!

I have a bunch of Manzanita that I collected and have too much of it. In week or so I think I'll take some pictures and put them up for trade of plant clippings or something.

Just an idea.

Matt
Im not going to move that rock on the right because my new blue ram pair seem to have picked that as their spawning site. I've seen them hanging out there and cleaning up the area lately. thanks for the idea though if I have some extra clippings I would definitely trade for some wood.

+1 Your plants are in a good place, they just need a bit of bushiness to them

Here is a great thread on how to make your plants bush out.

I have had great luck with red root floater. It grows very very quick, and can grow very dense. So you will need to thin it out quite often.
Post some pics of your Rams! Love those. I'm planning my tank around them!
