Golden Wonder Killifish

In all of my readings these are top water fish. but i noticed mine are spending more and more time in the middle to bottom water (early morning and end of day). is that a sign of spawning? or something else? not so much worried as i am courious about a newer fishes behavior.

they are in the 29g in the link at the bottom of my sig.
