I've had them before, a long time ago in an old 29g planted tank. They never seemed to harm the plants. The kept the rocks and walls clean. And they ewven layed egg sacks all over the place. Why do I or don't I want them in my tank?? Any other suggestions??

I learned the hard way on one of my planted tanks - let the plants establish before adding the mystery's. I had a heck of a time getting plants to take hold in the substrate because they kept uprooting them - didn't eat them just uprooted when they rolled over them, continuously replanting the new plants, the older plants stayed put and were never damaged.
Don't want the baby snails? - just dispose of the egg clusters or keep all one sex! Or some fish will be happy to have a snack.

I have them in my shrimp tank .

I do not keep them in my Big tank because the PH is 6.8 and that would be bad for the shells.
