I have a bunch of Bolivian Rams in my 46g tank with a bunch of Cory Cats. I'd like to pull a few of the Rams out and put them in my empty 20 long to try to get them to pair up. I have one Ram that is the dominant male and very territorial. Should I avoid trying to get him to pair up or would his dominant personality be good for pairing? All the Rams are pretty mellow except for him. Any advice is appreciated.

I'd wait for a pair to start courting and then move that pair.

Chances are good that your dominant male will be the first to attract his girl.

I've noticed the dom male allows this one female in his territory. She's the only one. Sometimes it seems like he chases her back towards his territory if she gets too far away
