Going away for 10 days - help!

i've been reading a bunch of the older posts on this forum and found some useful information but not about what i'm particularly worried about.

see i have this weird concern that my water level is going to drop off too low in the 10-11 days i'm gone from home for vacation.

i have a mini m, which has lily pipes connected to a 2213. no fish, no shrimp just plants for now. i needed to cycle, and get my scape in order before i considered living things. just got co2 (finally), on 12hrs light, and co2.

should i be worried about my water level getting too low and just shut off my filter? i know it may kill whatever beneficial bacteria is in my filter for the 10-11 days but i'm just worried that my lily pipes are going to sputter off, and my filter burn out due to low water levels. this would mean i would probably leave my co2 off as well.

help!

What size tank? How high is your intake? What has been your rate of evaporation? Do you have a lid? Do you live in a desert?
It's ada mini m so it's 5 gl .

haha size is mini M which is 36x22x26cm (approx:14"x8.5"x10"), my intake is about 3 inches from the top of the tank, my rate of evaporations = not sure. i've been trying to measure it but with water changes (it's a relatively new tank) it's been tough estimating that. no lid, no desert - i'm upstate NY which is cold af! haha
You definitely won't evaporate 3" in 10 days with a tank like that. Maybe put cellophane wrap over the top if you're really worried about evaporation?
You'll be fine. It won't drop that much in 10 days, and like JJ said, put plastic on top if you're worried.

The bigger question is why is your intake so high? You might end up with dead areas down low if you don't have any water circulating down there.

sorry i misread that part of the intake. my intake is about 5-6 inches below the top of the tank and my outflow is about 3 inches below.

so the general consensus is: do a massive water change before i leave, fill it up to the top and put seran wrap at the top of tank to reduce evaporation?
Why a massive change? Unless that's your normal routine.

And if your filter intake is that low, short of a catastrophe, you'll have no issues.
+1 to put plastic wrap over it. this will cut down on evaporation a LOT
when do you leave? mark your water level with a marker or piece of tape and measure how much you loose in a couple days to get an idea of your evaporation rate.
