Can't wait for mine to get that big. I hear though that there are two different species out there, and that one of them stays smaller. You have any experience with that? I also love that lillie you have, what species is it?

I don't know if there is more than one species. I'm still learning.

The red plant is a Red Tiger Lotus (Nymphaeaceae)

Very nice! The ML is one of my favorite plants. On one of the related threads Kathyy posted a pic of a ADA contest tank that featured ML. It was really outstanding with lots of ML as a background. I had a nice one in a 20L that I rescued from certain doom that I could in LFS's plant death tank. I think ML needs a min. of 3" in tank length to show it well.

Hm, I'm surprised that all the leaves on your plant look the same green color.

Some years ago I unloaded a half rotten bulb of the Lace to my neighbour. That was his first tank and he overkilled it all - 9 bags of Amazonia, 330 watts of light, water changes every other day... in a 75 gallon tank.

Well, 5 months later he rang my door bell and handed me the Lace back. This 6' tall guy had his hand up high and the plant hung down to about his knees! He said he was sick of this thing growing huge leaves every which way.

Each leaf was perfectly healthy, but was colored in a different color. There were greens, browns, yellows, dark reds. That's why I was surprised to see a big Lace like that one but with only green leaves.

Yes, they are all close in color except the new leaves (as you would expect) which start out a very light green.

I use pressurized CO2, Eco-complete for substrate and I fertilized it just once in three months with a root tab. My water is within normal parameters.
