The method has been used for quite a long time. In fact, you don't need a connector. Just drill a hole smaller than the tubing, cut the tubing at an angle, stick it through the hole, and pull the tubing in with pliers. Very nice tight seal.

Yes, I know about that method. I find this method creates a better joint, especially if you are using the more flexible tubing.
