I heard about this quite a while ago, in the futuristic hype of glow-in-the-dark trees as "street lamps." A pretty idea, but part of me would be sad they could never be turned "off"... Permanent light pollution. :-/
Not sure how I feel about the long term ramifications of meddling, but can't deny I got real excited that I might be able to grow some glow-in-the-dark Arabidopsis! (Not that anyone outside of a 7th grad bio lab actually wants to grow little mustards, usually, but this is different!) Will be interesting to see if anyone steps forward to actually halt the sale of these seeds, and if they actually become available, what people do with them.
