Are ghost shrimp good for eating algae?

I dont specifcally remember my ghost shrimp eating any algae. If they do it must be super small amounts. Or maybe I just didnt have the type they like to eat in my tank.

Ghost shrimp are scavengers, terrible algae eaters unless they're starving. They'll clean up extra food for you lickedy split though.

Negatory. When I had ghost shrimp they did NOTHING for algae. They will however pick left-over food out of the substrate and plants. I'm not a shrimp expert, I'm sure there are plenty of experts on this board, but I remember reading something that shrimp do not get "rid" of algae. They almost farm and maintain it to keep a constant food supply, instead of eradicating it.
