Ghost Catfish on Bottom

1123 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  H2Ogal
So today one of my ghost catfish (I have a school of 11) was found on the bottom of the tank, pretty lifeless. I thought it was dead so when I brought the net close to it, it moved away.

I've never seen ghost catfish just lay at the bottom of the tank. They are almost always swimming.

Tested my water - 0 Ammonia / Nitrites. CO2 drop checker is green.

Any ideas? It's one of my bigger ones, so I'm assuming it's older than the rest... is this just old age? All the other fish seem fine.

Could be old age. I have a group of five that constantly hover in the current. From my experience, if the glass catfish's body turns an opaque white, it's probably not gonna make it.

Okay - it's still the same color, so maybe it was just an off day for him...
I don't fish have "off" days ... check your water params and fix any problem there ... consider moving the sick fish to a QT tank. Hope he/she gets better!
