Hey guys, so I am looking at getting 3 ram cichlids for my 29 gallon fish tank. I really like both the German Blues and the Electric Blues, so I was wondering if it would be possible to have 1 male GBR and 2 female EBR, or 1 male and 1 female GBR w/ 1 female EBR?

Since I would only have 1 male, I figure that would eradicate most dominance issues, but I'm wondering if it would be ok to mix species like that. Also, I have seen GBR and EBR crossbreeds, so I know stuff like this has been done. But what are your thoughts?

They aren't different species, they are different color strains of the same species, so you shouldn't have any problems with whatever you decide to do.

I have the same question, but the difference is that my Rams are so small I can't tell their sex. I might get this weekend some blue rams but only if I can tell the male from female. They are my favorite fish in the tank right now.
