My Male Ram has developed a sort of pimple on the right side of his face near his mouth. He is still very colorful and seems completely normal... any ideas?
He is in a 29g with only him, a female GBR, and a SAE.
Anything like that I personally would treat as a bacterial infection, though it could be fungal or even a tumor. Melafix and Pimafix combo IME does a pretty good job with minor issues like this; I'd QT the fish and treat.
looks like a little spot of ick to me. I'ld treat your whole tank with maracide, quick cure (malacite green and formalin), or just straight malachite green depending on what species you have in the tank. Ick drops of the fish and lives in the gravel for a part of it's life cycle, I would personally treat the whole tank. Raising the temp also speeds up the life cycle and makes treatment easier. If it is ick it is fairly easy to treat, good luck
I had a female GBR that had something very similar, same location too. It went away on its own, but then surfaced again a year or two later only to be fatal that time. I never did find out what it was.
I withdrawl my earlier comment, wasnt looking closely enough at the pic... that is definately not ick. No idea... but fluke or leech is a good a guess as any...
